So this past week I figured out exactly how to make my model. I figured out the proportions, dimensions, and materials. I decided to use plexi glass. I set up an illustrator file which took me quite a while. setting up the file for the model has really helped me realize a lot of practical things about making the piece, particularly the fact that I will probably have to go in after the pieces were lazer cut and sand them to get them the shape and size I want them to be because figuring all this out prior to lazer cutting is too complicate and time consuming that it's just not worth it. I spend a few hours last week trying to figure this out. So, I lazer cut all the pieces for my model and now I have to put it together and then start putting the threads through. I also decided to do another model, this time just looking at the color changes of the thread that I would want to implement in my sculptures. I created this past week a lazer cutting file for a long piece of plexi glass with holes that I will bend and make a frame out of it and then string threads through vertically, playing around with colors to finalize the colors I want to have. I'm sorry I forgot to take photos of my lazer cut pieces but I will try to post them tomorrow or tuesday. I am hoping to finish this semester with a finished model of the sculpture and a finished model of the color variations created by threads, as well as have a few sketched out options for the 3 figurative shapes I want to create with my sculptures.
